I test drove two 99 Limiteds today, Green and Black. First let me say how much it saddens me to see these majestic vehicles treated so badly.
I looked at the Green one first. The ad said it would have 55,xxx miles, it actually had 73,xxx as well as a head gasket leak; I watched the exhaust when he started it (cold) and the white smoke was blatant, then I checked under the oil cap, and BAM, some white residue. It also had bald tires that were 10lbs under deflated, and the front was WAY out of alignment. The interior looked abused, the leather was well worn and the carpet had multiple spots from entire cans of soda or something. I couldn’t get the rear seat up to see if the jack was ever used, and I was really prying on it! The rear cup holder looked like someone had left it open then stepped on it, breaking it. It did have the locker, which the Black one didn’t for some reason. Some one rode this one hard and put it away wet!
The Black Limited was better, but it had 92,6xx miles and the oil cap looked like the oil was RARELY changed. There were missing fuses so some of the driving lights didn’t work and the tinting on the back window was badly scratched in several places, I guess to match the rear panels.
All in all it was a crappy day looking at abused 4Runners, not to mention my trip there; full of road rage drivers and threats to call the police . I’m just gunna go back to bed and pretend this never happened.
