99 OEM CD Player

99 OEM CD Player
I posted a question on the general electrical forum about my CD player not working possibly because of problems with my antenna a few days ago, but have not got any responses.
In summary my antenna broke and then shortly later my CD player stopped working. I have since replaced my antenna but the CD player still doesn't work. So at this point I am thinking maybe its just a wierd coincidence and the CD player is shot.
So I have a 1999 Limited 4runner with the "premium" sound system (tweeters...that don't work, etc). I am looking to replace the AM/FM/Tape/CD with another OEM-like unit. I don't want to go aftermarket because the vehicle is parked in a high crime area and I don't want to bring that attention to myself. Plus I like the OEM look more.
However since I will be replacing the headunit I am wanting to get the best bang for the buck in OEM headunits. Are any other years, models, etc of headunits interchangable in the truck? I remember hearing something about Scion? How about newer 4runner radios?
I could just replace it with another one from a junkyard 99, but don't want to have the same problem. I don't need the tape function, but do need CD.
If there is already a thread on what will work in the vehicle please let me know and I will read it, I looked through the archives but had no luck.
Thanks!!

I have a 1999 limited with premium sound and I replaced my OEM.. if you want it, shoot me a price. I can't remember if it had cd function though, so if you're interested I'll go dig it out of storage. As far as OEM radios from other toyota vehicles, I have no clue. I'm sure there are some others compatible with the 4Runner like camry, highlander, rav 4, tacoma.. but don't take my word on it.
