Question '96-'98 Front Bumper Install on a '99+ ??

Anyone know how to install a '96-'98 front bumper on a '99+ 4Runner?

I don't really care for the "big bottom lip" look of the '99+ front bumper. I'd much rather have a clean early-look front bumper.

Any tips would be great.

Thanks!

What would it take to remove the crash beam? Any pics of it, by chance?

Yea the crash beam is why the 99+ bumpers stick out. I think the crash beam can be un bolted and removed. Can any one confirm?

I don't like the look of the '99+ front bumper as much as I like the '96-'98 bumper. Definitely would appreciate any tips.

Is your '99 Bumper a Chrome Bumper w/ the Side Flares? If so, I would be interested in buying the whole Assembly with the crash bar, for a reasonable price. I have a '98 Limited, and would like a '99-'02 Chrome Bumper w/Flares, w/Fogs, Turn Signals, and Bumper Brackets. I have to replace my set up anyways, due to damage.

It's interesting you feel this way...because i feel the same, but kinda just resigned myself to my fat lip. It's grown on me a little...but I still like the old bumpers better.

No, he has a Highlander. Which means his bumper is color keyed to the body on the top half, and the bottom half is dark gray. He also has the smaller SR5 style flares.

If you could do the mod without comprimising the safety of the rig, GO FOR IT! It would be nice to see something on here, that nobody else has done! Props to you for being an original thinker!
