93 v 6 runs bad. any help?
i have a 93 v6 ext cab. when cold it does nt want to idile that well. if i try to pull out it wants to stall. after it s warm it runs ok for about 5 miles then it seems like it is loaded up and it losses all power. if i turn the key off and back on it runs ok for about another 2-5 miles then does it agian. so i will be driving along and just turn the key and back on with out stopping and it corrects it self.the cataletic converter is punched out so it s not clogged i know i need to replace it so yell at me about it. lol it was like tht when i bought it.i was told that the cat being punched out would nt affect the running of truck. i replaced the fuel pump, filter, o2 sensor, dist. cap and rotor. i also put in the computer from a buddys truck and it still did it with his comp.i am totally lost here. the egr valve is not stck open. i also checked for codes. i got a code 21. meaning o2 sensor. so i changed it and i got the same result. nothing. still did it.i am thinking it could be fuel injection. thats the only thing i did nt check. im not sure how to. any help here would be appreciated. thanks

I think there are 2 O2 sensors...one before the cat and one after. The one before the cat is the one that usually goes out. I'm wondering if you replaced the one after the gutted cat. I also wonder if the gutted cat has caused the 2nd sensor to go bad or at least read incorrectly.
Do a Seafoam treatment to burn some of the carbon off the intake valves and combustion chamber and clean the intake. Then run several tanks Chevron gas with BG44 or Techron. See if these cheapee solutions don't take care of part of the problem.
If this doesn't work, you're probably gonna have to take it in to a mechanic or Toyota and get the fuel injectors checked out...Especially the cold start. They're probably gonna insist that you replace the gutted cat before they do anything else. Which is really a good idea.

Did you get 100% of the cat contents out of it when you punched it out? Had some of the contents broken up earlier and entered the exhaust system before the punching out? Even just a small amount of that stuff can get caught in the exhaust pipe or muffler and make it act exactly like you are experiencing. If it is not to much of a hassle, unbolt the cat and see if it will run properly. Also try pulling the EFI fuse for 5 minutes and restarting-see if it changes the severity or duration of the poor running conditions.

thanks for the info. there was only one 02 sensor. i ll take a look at the wires from the 02. when i first got the truck, i was on my way home and it started doing its thing. so first thing i did was pull off the road and took off the cat. i just know that was the prob. well to my surprise the cat was hollow. nothing in there at all. so i drove 140 miles home with open pipe, i ll never do that again. my ears still hurt. lol
