90k mile service quote

Bought a 98 4runner with 87k miles on it about a month ago. Sure enough, I'm up around 91k now, and to the maintenence interval for the timing belt, and the big 90k mile service. I've searched around a bit but didnt really find the answer to my question, so I'll just lay it out.

Dealer quoted $590 for 90k mile service, with no timing belt change (that was another 440). They were changing the oil, flushing the trans and cooling system, and changing the front and rear diff oil. As well as the standard dealer "chassis, nut and bolt checks"

Went to a Monro muffler today armed with a 10% off coupon, and the manager said he could do the timing belt, flush trans, and cooling system, oil change, fuel system cleaning, and power steering flush as well as change the timing belt, for an out the door cost of $600.

Is this a good deal? Would I be stupid to take it to a place like Monro? Any input would be appreciated.

reason noone probably is answering is because you havent searched the forum yet. try 90k maintenace, tranny flush ect. just click the search button and type away!

are they throwing in a 32 ounce jug of KY with that $590 quote? do it yourself, all but the tranny flush..AND DO NOT TAKE IT to JIFFY LUBE for the flush!!!!

i had t-belt, drive belts and water pump done for barely $500. your getting raped for a 90k service at $590. just by the haynes manual, some tools and go at it!

where are you from beverly hills?!!!

what are you driving?

and welcome to YT!! your gonna love it, we guarantee it!!!

Yeah, I'd say do all the fluid changes yourself and if you don't think you're up to the task of changing your timing belt then find yourself a reputable mechanic to do that for you. I agree with the others, you are getting bent over paying those prices!
