buying an 87 4runner ?

i might be picking up an 87 4runner v6 4x4 5spd. anyone have some advice on what to look for like parts that usually go bad or anything i might need to know about it. any suggestions welcome. thanks

Mainly, check for rust in the frame by poking it with a screwdriver. Toyota frames rust from the inside out. Most problematic area is the rear section.

There is no parts that "usually" go bad. Toyotas are one of the most reliables vehicles on the planet, especially trucks.

There are normal wear and tear maintenence items such as tie rods, ball joints, brakes, shocks, alternator, starter, that kind of stuff.

The V6 engine was available in 1988, not 87, so either its an 88 V6 or an 87 4cy.

right on. i guess ill check on the engine when i go take a look at the truck. i rather have the 4cyl motor. thanks for the info.
