80/100 Eiko bulbs, I finally put them in.
And they are sweet. No hint of blue as the bulb lenses are clear. What a huge difference, even my foglights look yellow as the 80W Low are just so much brighter. Before my fogs would overwhelm my headlights, even though they are pointed at the ground but now it is almost as if I can't even tell that they are on. Now I hope I don't melt the wiring. Has anyone done this without a problem? I remember having a 80/100 on my streetbike and it never had a problem. Now if only I could find a yellow bulb for my foglights on my Thundra I'd be golden.

Usually when you go to a higher wattage bulb like that you are supposed to upgrade the wirings, but I haven't done that on mine yet. A guy I go to school with had some new bulbs like that and his right side wires melted. My guess either too much load or a short, most likely the load on the wires.

I have asked this question and have heard from a number of people that the inside of the headlight/reflector/reflective surface along with the clear cover suffers no ill effects from the increased output/wattage, it makes sense as it is only a 25 watt increase in low and 40 in high and I like to think that at least in the winter months here in New England that the cold, coupled with the wind chill factor will serve to further cool the whole shebang. I also like to think that Toyota would build a good enough product so as to survive an increase in wattage. Most have said that the wiring will melt down before the headlight housing suffers. If it were easy to upgrade/replace the wiring, I'd do it in a second, no matter the cost, I will have to look into it.

A legit question. 55/60. I am almost 99.9% sure that 55/60 is the standard for every car/truck on the road. At least here in Massachusetts, the stores can't sell a headlight bulb over 55/60 and the packaging on the 80/100 states it is for off-road use only. It is why the Silverstar and other "coated" bulbs are so lame, they are only 55/60 and with a coating on them it makes them even weaker.

Eiko are a bulb I found out of the Dennis Kirk catalog. I don't know how long the bulb will last but for now it is great! Way brighter than stock and for $13.99, a great deal. I'm putting the same bulbs in my snowmobile for NIGHT VISION!

I use hella 80/100 on my truck for more than 7 months now and everything is fine. I did upgrade my wiring though, just for the piece of mind. My healight brightness increase tremendously, and the bulb is cheap too, I think I paid less than $8 a bulb and they are HELLA.

Hella's been pissing me off lately. They keep outsourcing stuff to Taiwan and overseas. That entire Optilux line is made in Taiwan and is crap. I hope their entire line doesn't start going downhill.
