Exclamation 4WD light flashing - No 4WD

Got a bunch of ice around here and tried using 4wd and got nothing. Just the light flashes....now all of the time.
I can't get it to go off and I am still in 2wd.

Its a 99 4Runner with 84K miles. I disconnected the batteries for alittle while thinking it was a computer issue...but it didn't help. Does it sound like the actuator ?

EDIT
Disregard, I just found some info on the search...

Thanks.

from what it sounds like its either :
vacuum lines
or
the actuator

I just need to figure out which one it is.....hopefully I don't have to sink $$$ from a stealership.

Still doesn't work.

You have to post the link to the post. I think you're trying to post a link to the search page.

Did you try revving your engine with the 4WD pushed in. Since it does work on a vacuum system, it helps to rev. Hope you get it figured out, though.

Well, all I did was type " 4WD light flashing" in the search box and got a handful of results.

Doesn't appear its going to fix itself, I've tried time and time again putting it in 4wd with no luck....light is still flashing and no 4WD.

Have you checked all of your vac lines?

Whats the best way to check them and where are they all located? After dinner I will go underneith and look around.

If its a vac line do they usually pull out or tear causing this problem?

I had two tear on mine. For the life of me I can't remember where they were.
I've been out of the 3rd gen game for a while now.

I'd wait for some of the guru's to post up.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

If I get a break at work this evening, I will take a peak. BTW= the ride into work today with the new MAF is a world of difference!!! I should have swapped that out 25K miles ago

The flashing 4WD light flashing on and off is pissing me off though....

Hey, at least you can cross one thing off your list right?
I'm glad that worked out, it's a good feeling when you finally figure out what was wrong and get it fixed.

It would annoy me too...
