4th gen front diff retrofit to 3rd gen
Hi,
I read that the front diff of the 4th gen 4Runner is 8". Is it feasible to retrofit/install it in a 3rd gen 4Runner? Is the diff alsol located at the driver side to match the 3rd gen's front drive shaft?
Just curious and looking at options to make the front diff stronger.
Thanks.

I don't have an answer to your question but it seems like for the money it wouldn't really be cost effective, especially since you're only moving from a 7.5" to an 8". Plus the Toyota 7.5" diff isn't really weak, the CV joints and other IFS components are the real weak point not the diff itself and that's not gonna change much between a 3rd or 4th gen. You could probably spend a little more and SAS it and have a much stronger diff, because then you would really be getting rid of the weakest links.
