The second time I called, the guy said that it depends because toyota had different axle's during the 99-00 years, and he would have to look at the truck to determine if the locker would fit.

Is it possible that there is no selectable locker available for my truck (besides e-locker swap)? Or could it be that they don't know what they are talking about?
pm bamachem. I believe he know where to find the good prices for an ARB.
I believe the 4WP guy was refering to the 8" and 8.4" rear axles, but that is Taco stuff.
It is about the same money to retrofit an e-locker and install an ARb w/ comressor. about...

The donor I got my axle from was a '99 limited with 4.30's. SteveO's '99 limited had 4.30's. I have SteveO's front gears in my truck as well.

My net expense for the E-locker install was $75 after I parted out my old axle. You can certainly do the E-locker swap cheaper than an ARB if you have the skills to do it yourself and ability to sell your original.

If it's a 4.30, just get the front diff and swap it also-if the front diff is gone then I have a 4.30 front diff I can sell you. I did this exact swap on mine. I found a 4Runner with 4.30 gears and an e-locker and bought the rearx axle and front diff and just swapped both over.

brett, what about this from J.A. 4Runner History???

so, has anybody ever SEEN WITH THEIR OWN EYES a factory equipped 4.10 e-locking differential?

I don't know? When I was looking at them, I remember researching that there were both and the 4.30 gears came only in Limited Automatics with 16" wheels, any other e-locker had 4.10's. That's what I read anyway.

Actually my 4:30 elocker came from a 99 limited. Check axle code. A03A will have 4:30's and A02A will have 4:10's on the >96 4runner. The wiring is very easy. Made a little black box with the two relays in it and a factory switch. Works great in high and low range 2wd or 4wd. I modified my housing, but the axle should bolt right on.

You can order elocking thirds from toyota with 4.10, 4.30, and 4.56 in them. I guess they were all used over the years, else toyota wouldn't have them available as parts.
