Well, my dad says if we report the runner to insurance, they will total the truck, and my dad doesn't want to deal with salvage title, so i'm in trouble. does any one have any remote idea how much this will cost to fix? I was thinking 6k was a good max amount, but I have no idea.

for 6 grand, you should try to find a dodor rig. something with lots of rust and a not so hot motor. maybe for 4000 or something (far fetched figure) and just rob peter to pay paul and part the rest to try to recoup some of your college savings

Yea, the cargo area is the worst, but I was thinking, I really don't need the "nice" looking trunk, so all I needed to fix is the wiring and the roof liner, which won't be too bad, but I will need to have the wiring professionally done

Getting the smoke smell out of the inside will be the worst, I think you would be best off finding a truck with a blown engine or trans or a wreck and using it for parts. Should be able to find one in decent shape for about 2k or less, use the parts you need and sell the rest of truck.
