3.4L Valve Clearance Adjustment
I noticed in my manual that toyota recommends this every 60k miles. I've never had a sch main item like this on any other vehicle. Is it really worth it, or is it not too expensive. Also, why is it required? Posted this in the main room but probably shoulda posted it here.

over time, the cam lobes can wear, and it's just good maintenance every so often. if it's like a 3.0, the cam almost directly pushes on the valves, there's just a bucket with adjustable shims underneath, no rocker arms. kind of a PITA since you can't just go get a feeler gauge and a screwdriver like the 22R

My dealer wanted like $300-400 to do a valve adjustment at my 60,000 mile check-up, told them to forget it, not sure how important it is, anybody else have this done ? how much did you pay ?

It isn't very important at all on the 5VZ-FE. I've done a few thousand and the only thing I ever find is loose valves. Which, isn't anywhere near as deadly as tight valves. Forget the valve adjustment until 90k miles or so.
