2nd Gen Reverse Lights
I saw the mechanic reversing my car today (never seen the reverse lights before) and I noticed that only the top half of both were lit. I replaced the bulbs about a month ago so I don't see why both would burn out. I took it apart and found only two light bulbs, one for reverse and one for the license plate. All four bulbs work, but still only the top half of the whole reverse 'light' turns on when reversing. Is this normal? If its still unclear look at my pic at the explanation. The area in blue is what lights up.

What I did is hook up a set of the Blazer brand rectangle shape lights to the base of my bumper on each side of the hitch unit. Looks good but I have gone through two sets from trail damage. I have since fabbed a tail gate tire carrier with my original tail gate. I am going to mount the other tail gate I have that allows the back up lights to be mounted on the dies of the tire. I think they will be ok looking. I also am pondering mounting my auxilary lights on the carrier itself.

I just noticed that yesterday when I saw this picture!
Any ideas where I could mount some additional reverse lights where it won't look goofy or get eaten by a rock? I was thinking of adding some from a 2nd gen with a rear tire carrier. Are there any aftermarket lights out there I could mount flush in the tailgate?

NAPA has some big-rig lighting accessories that you might be able to use. It's in one of their many catalogs.
