2000 4Runner / General question about 3.4L v6

I'm selling my 2004 Tacoma PreRunner for various reasons..

Anyways I'm looking at a 2000 4Runner 4WD. It's got the SR5 package..power windows..door locks..mirrors..sunroof..etc.. It's got the locking rear differential.. and the towing package.

It's the 4Runner I've been looking for except it's got 145k miles.

He said the timing belt has been replaced, but what else should I worry about with buying a high mileage vehicle?

Should I expect any major problems between 145k to 200k?

He's wanting 9k for it, which is in my price range. This is cheaper than 99% of the ones I've been finding in that year range, with those options...

Just wondering if 145k miles is really that big of a deal on the 3.4l v6? If not I'm really interested in picking it up.

I hate to come here and just ask this question, but this forum is a lot more 4Runner oriented than the other forum I post at.

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about the mileage. The only thing that would possibly cause problems would be the timing belt, and that has already been replaced.

Other than that, just check the belts, hoses and flush all the fluids and you should be good to go.

nothing to worry about mines got 145k and it runs better than new and the 3.4L is just plain awesome for a v6 and the locking rear diff is a big plus offroad

me moms 99 has 230k and runs like new.

9k is a really really good deal if it is on good shape. especially e-locked.

What they said. Mine is just turning 140k and runs fine. Ask if the water pump was replaced when they did the timing belt, as well as the tensioner pully bearings. Those items would be replaced at the same time (gotta remove the belt), my tensioners were making some noise at 120k.

Its a solid engine. Wish I had an elocker...

i'd go for it. the water pump may also need to be replaced, but thats a pretty small issue. i paid $13k for my 00 4runner almost 2 years ago so i'd say 9k is fine. i wouldnt trust it cuz an auburn person owns it though!

Yeah... I found several 4Runners.. most have been with over 100k, and this was the first I found that had the locking rear differential. None of those were cheaper than this one. Plus it's all black which I was wanting too. Both my Tacomas I've owned have been black, and I didn't feel like breaking the trend.

Here's my goal for this 4Runner:

Minus the snorkel. I'm not sure who this belongs to.. I seen it on here or TTORA. 2.5" OME and 33's.. plus the ARB front..or maybe another I just seen on this board that looks pretty nice.

Thanks for the reassurance!

Haha!

Here's my current truck.. I'm sure you'll like the tag.

The guy buying it told me not to forget to take off the AU tag so he could replace it with a UGA tag.

5Sp trans, right?

I would kill for that truck, especially at 9k. I found one around here with less options for 14K with a 5sp.
