Angry 2 Problems that I need assistance with!!!

1. I am down here at the beach doing some driving in the sand and noticed after being in 4WD the front differential leaks oil from it not really sure if it is from the drain or other places. I have tightened the drain plug but it still leaks enough to make a big spot in the sand after sitting 5 mins. Why is it doing this? Is it overfilled?

2. While I was under the truck I noticed grease everywhere on the passenger side. It is a torn CV Boot. It wasnt torn before i left my house sunday morning. How hard is it to fix and can you just change the boot? How much should it cost if I decide not to fix it myself?

Charlotte, NC Hello.
1. Make sure it is leaking from the diff and not from above somewhere else like the engine. I thought I had a leaky front diff but it was just oil that spilled after a oil filter change.

2. Torn CV boots and sand dont mix very well you will probably need to change the whole axle (more money but less time) or clean the heck out of the CV and replace the boot (less money but more time) Not sure how much all this will cost. Call around for prices on the parts. If you have it done by someone hope that they dont have a Boat paymnet due

Check out the 4Roc NC forum if you havent already and meet the rest of the NC yotatech members.

Also, if you have done some recent muddin' the diff breather could be clogged, causing a leak past the seal.

Yeah im not sure what kind of oil it is but it leaks only in 4wd or after using 4wd. What is a boat payment due?

I also would like to join the 4Roc NC club.

The boat payment thing was a weak attempt at humor. Sorry.
It sure does sound like a front diff leak.
Just go to the 4roc NC forum and introduce yourself. If you want you can come along on one of our Uwharrie trail runs.

The boots cost about $35 a side if I remember corectly and as long as you havn't diven long with a torn boot, your axle should be fine. Took me a half day to replace the boots on one side.
