1st Gen Electrical Problem-Turn signals

Coming home from the store today, I flicked on my headlights and the right turn signal indicator came on and stayed on. Checked things out when I got home.

I have no driver's side turn signals, but the lights all work and bulbs appear fine. On the pass. side, the front and rear orange marker lights are out, but the turn signals work. Those bulbs appear fine as well. Brake lights work, headlights work.

So I've checked all the bulbs and the fuse box at the driver's feet and everything is ok. What else could it be? Is there a relay somewhere? Another fuse box?

My Haynes manual is of no help so I'm counting on you guys. Thanks.

Try checking the flasher...it has to be there or at the lights...

To add to the mystery, I discovered this morning that when my headlights are NOT on, everything works as it should. Everything lights like it's supposed to, blinks like it's supposed to.

SO the problem must be connected to the headlight/marker light system in some way. I think I'll go through and clean all the bulb contacts, reinstall eveything with dialectic grease, and replace if necessary.

We'll see if that helps.

Phx...

Do you mean the actual flasher bulb? I'll give those aother look... thanks.

I guess another factor was the culprit. On the same trip, I was getting a small drip from the upper drivers-side of the windshield. It is the first time it has rained since I bought the truck.

My guess is that that drip was running down the a-piller all the way to the relay at the driver's feet. Now that everything has dried (presumably) all the lights and turn signals are working as they are supposed to.

Now I need to pull that trim off and see if I can plug the leak.
