1996 4Runner - Intermitent Starting Issues
I noticed this winter that my 96 3.4L 4Runner will not start intermittently. When it does not start on the first try, I have found that holding the key in the start position for 2-3 seconds will get the truck to start. Recently we had some -20 degree weather and I found that it took several attempts to get the truck started (about 3-4min of taking key out and trying again). When it does not start, I do not hear any clicking noise and all lights on the dash come on as usual.
The first day we had the -20 degree temps it gave me trouble starting and then when it did start after a few minutes 2 check engine codes were triggered. Not sure if the cold temps had anything to do with this? P340 and P335 (if I remember correct crank and cam position sensors). I reset the computer last night and the check engine codes cleared without re-appearing.
Checked the battery terminals and they are snug. Battery is newer.
Any ideas what I should be looking at next guys? Can you please also advise how I can trouble shoot for what you are suggesting? Thanks in advance.
