'04 Taco gas tank "skid"

Another one for the books.

Went to go take the garbage to the dump this morning and wound up spending 20 minutes laying under my truck making an redneck repair to the stupid "skid" plate. Apparently the spots where it bolts to the rear tank strap (the two bolts) decided to rot through, gotta love rock salt. The bolts were still attached to the strap, the skid was hanging from the front two.

So... I zip-tied it back into some semblance of usefulness for now. Have I mentioned I hate laying in snow? Damned 3 feet we got in NY....

Question being.. anyone sell a replacement? Maybe something a little beefier and hopefully stock-mountable. Not really in the mood to be dropping the tank, but I'll consider it. Only other option is to visit the dealer...

There's no aftermarket.

Lot's of other other options though like finding one used from craigslist, ebay, local junk yard, or yota forum classifieds.
Then cover it with POR-15, it'll probably outlast your truck.

Thanks for the info.

I don't have the necessary resources to fab the stuff myself. (I really need to get a welder... sigh) Though I do like the look of that, definitely make it harder to damage the tank. Anyway, guess I'll do some calling around and see what's available

Thanks guys.
