02 4Runner Radio Antenna Stuck Up
Hey guys...
I have an 02 4Runner SR5 sport edition. The stereo antenna is stuck up. You can hear the motor run when you turn the stereo power on and off but it just stays up. The car had to go into the dealership so I had them take a look at it. They said that it needed a new motor and that it was $251!!!! WOW! so I decline. Holy crap!
Anyway, anyone know where I can get a new motor for cheap and how exactly do I go about replacing it? Through the fender wall? Or is it not worth the hassle?
Another thing, its a Sport Edition and it has the badges on the driver and passenger side doors. the stickers has come completely off, where can I get new ones besides the stealership!
THANKS!

mac,
look in the tech section and you'll see a writeup for replacing your motorized antenna with a fixed, non motorized one. that will give you an idea.
also, a member just recently posted up a text writeup on how to remove limited fender flares w/o doing a lot of tear down. search "antenna replacement" or "antenna" and it should pull up at the top of the list

well if you want to keep the motor antenna you may not need a new motor if you still hear it running. the teeth on the line may be broken...or what happened on mine was that the liitle ptasic grommet thing under the antenna nut seized onto the antenna not letting it come down. i just took off the nut and took out the antenna (turn radio on without the nut and it will come flying out) then i loosened the plastic grommet greased it a bit and then fed in the antenna when i switched the power to off.
