I tested mine yesterday. It works fine. Its not a huge difference but noticeable. Look to be sure your wiring is good. There could be a problem there.

I installed mine myself with instructions from Crutchfield and had no problems. I'd recommend using them for this type of stuff in the future.

Nick,

Would you happen to have a copy of those instructions?

I had my DEH-P8400MP in my Chevrolet Monte Carlo for over a year, and everything seemed to work fine there. So when I got my 4Runner I just removed the deck from Chevrolet and with proper wiring harness fitted it in 4Runner. I probably did miss one wire somewhere, but it is rather difficult to tell which one w/o proper wiring instructions....

DL

You can download instructions and manuals from Pioneerelectronics.com. Must have Acrobat Reader 4.0 though.

either a jl audio 300.4

http://www.purecaraudio.com/product....00&1=219&3=189

or a pheonix gold tantrum 600.4

http://www.purecaraudio.com/product....00&1=225&3=259

there both in that price range. the tantrum is better quality then the new octane-r series

Would you mind providing some more details on how PG Tantrum is better than Octane-R amps?

I currently have Octane-R 5.0:4, but if Tantrum is better and worth extra money, I might get it instead, since I'm still within 30-days...

did you get your dimmer to work, it comes as a factory setting turned off so you'd have to turn it on to make it work.

sorry to bring up an old topic, but this is pretty much the main reason i'm signing up here.

i just bought a used 2001 4runner sr5 with all the trimmings, and have so far been disappointed only in its mediocre sound system. i know all about changing rims, adding lights, and other interior and exterior mod kits, but where the stereo is concerned, i'm lost.

luckily this thread helped!!

what would just changing the speakers do? would that help me?
