strictly_s' 1987 4Runner Build-Up Thread
Picked up a 1987 4Runner from a kid that said it has a blown motor and won't turn over.
Picked it up very cheap actualy. Interior is not the best... missing carpet.
Seem like he was offroading it and the car lost power when he was driving home and blew out white smoke. The truck didn't over heat through.
I had a similar problem before with my 89 Toyota Truck.
I decided to take it.
Good thing I have a other 89 Toyota truck pulled things and got it running. A lot of white smoke came out, but the 4runner has been sitting for half a year or even longer.
Cleared out in half a hour and its back to normal.
Show's no sign of bubbles in radiator or blown head.
Waiting for my compression tester kit to come in the mail.
Got it running but it seems to have some problems idling.
Might be a bad vac somewhere waiting for silcone vacs to come in the mail.
Replaced, TPS from my other truck which was good before i replaced it with a other.
Duct tape the hell out of the intake pipe because he sliced it up? Not sure why.
New plugs, cap and rotor. Runs fine has a slight rough idle and you have to rev it up a couple of times or it would choke and die.
AFM seems to be working fine. Tried on both of my trucks.
Battery and brake light is on. Tested Volt meter and alternator isn't producing any power. Waiting for alternator.
After all this is done... I have to smog it hopefully it would pass!
When I bought her home... Hosed it down a little
I pulled parts from my other truck and tested to see whats working and not... (AFM, TPS)
When I was able to get it running.... a lot of condensation from sitting for so long. Smoke disappear a little less then half a hour.
After finding out the alternator was bad and battery doesn't hold a charge. droved it around to see how it drives.... Drives pretty well and washed it.
Now its sitting there again untill the alternator comes in.

I got 120-140 on all cylinders? I hope thats good It stayed on before now it seems afm is going bad or my bad intake tubes are really effecting me now. Its hard to find a new one and junk yards want them for so much $100+ Rather buy a intake for that amount thats 50 states legal.

Just put new vacuums since some were leaking and did the big 3 upgrade. Still have problems keeping it to idle.
This weird ac idler when i spray it with electrical spray it revs... does this have anything to do with me keeping a real idle without ac on?
Pictures below are my new vacuums did silcone ones and big 3 upgrade. 4runner still not holding idle waiting for new air intake tubing yes... i know theres duct tape all around it.
