picked this truck up about a month ago, doesnt run, supposedly just needs an ignition coil. i figured easy fix id be running in no time....wrong.



the frame is in good shape which is hard to find here in NY. the fuel pump was wired direct so i pulled the tank and this is what found.


so off to pick a part i go. i got a sending unit out of a 94 with a 22re and thought it would work...wrong again, its too long. decided i could cut them apart and make one good one.

finished product, supply line looks like crap but thats what you get when you try and bend it with a couple of wrenches

havent put it in the tank yet to see if its gonna work. while i was getting the sending unit i picked up a radiator shroud b/c the po changed the radiator and never put the fan back in. after closer inspection im not sure the radiator even came out of a yota and the fan also just looks random. the good news is the shroud i picked will work perfect, just gotta attach the fan, this is what i came up with.


after some trimming i got it where i liked it and bolted. then i heated the actuall round shroud part up with a torch and bent them over to try and close some of the gap. looked like crap so i picked up a sheet of 26ga alum and got to work.




all sealed up, just waiting on caulk to dry before paint. thats as far as i got the last couple days, gotta leave town for a few days. im interested to see what ya'll think so far. not sure on future plans but im thinking cheap, practical and mostly custom. i will not be doing sas as i dont plan on going with huge tires and its mostly just mud and dirt up here not many rocks to deal with and my other ifs toyotas did just fine.

ok got some stuff done today, put the tank and fan back in the truck and tore out the rear seat belts. i also hated the way the hood sits so i built some hood pins and will install them tomarrow.
