Okay I know its a little early to start my build up thread, but I have my stuff getting delivered from marlin crawler!! And i was getting impatient

I ordered his front and rear bumpers, SAS kit (5in) and his rear lift (5in), some recovery shackles for the rear bumper, and some diff breathers. I am getting my SFA from chicago, I contacted a salvage yard locator and thats where they had one. Its an 85 with 4.10 gears.

I also am ordering a new alternator harness and engine harness from ORS. Electrical fire screwed up everything, so the truck currently doesnt run.

Okay so far I havent done anything, but ordered the parts, I dont know how to weld nor do I have a place to weld anything, so I have contacted a locally well known shop that has done a SAS on a toyota before.

My plan is this:
SAS 5in
New engine harness and alternator harness
New LCE 22RE
35 or 37-12.50R17s
5.29s with detroits front and rear
New things on the engine like alternator (200amp), power steering pump, etc
New steering box, (mine is leaking)
New radiator
Electric Fan
9 or 12k pound winch ( 12k If it fits on marlins bumper)
Mastercraft seats
new carpet
removable doors
small stereo system with one 10in sub
and a couple small things that i forgot and will bring up along the way



Most of all, this truck is going to be completely street legal, not my daily driver, but if I want to drive it every day I can.

only mods: stereo, 30-9.5-r 15 BFGs, painted black rims, and Hellas



Here is my daily driver: 03 Chevy Silverado, 4.8L automatic, CB, 2-12in kickers. (sorry its dark, I got a new cell phone and I dont know how to work it right yet...hahah)



And here is what I use the chevy for, besides my daily driver. This was when hurricane gustav came to my home town, I told them I was not going to leave her!! So I went and bought a trailer. (08 model with electric trailer brakes and stowable ramps for $2400, they were having a hurricane sale and I got a really good deal)



Now, I guess Ill tell yall the story behind this build:
(BTW I am only 19 years old) 4 months ago, my dad died of a heart attack, he was 49 and it was sudden and unexpected. Me and him bought the toyota, as my first truck and project. When he died he left me some money, and the chevy, and I decided to finish the truck we both started.

Now some of you are probably thinking, why invest so much money in a truck. Well, me and my dad really didnt get along nor did we have much in common, and the only time we did get along was when we were working on my truck or discussing the plans I had in store for it.

I do plan on keeping this truck for a long long time, and have currently spent more than its worth on repairs, so I decided to build it up.

Yeah besides the wiring, she ran good. But she did like her oil, a quart every three days when I was daily driving her, none on the ground either, just through the exhaust! hahahah, when I bought it, she had farm truck plates, so you know she was abused on the farm!! Also the only rust is in the bed, where a rubber mat once was!!

Sounds like you got all the good stuff. i just did a trail-gear 5'' SAS 2'' body lift i put on like 4 yrs ago. its on 35's and flex's real good. if you go with 35's you wont have to trim any body. but with 5:29 gears i would go with the 37's.

ACtually I have a question, one of the dust shields for the rotors is bent, do you really need those?? Or should I just try and bend it back?

Dust shield aren't necessary you can either bend it back or trim off and leave what's left of it on there or buy a back plate eliminator plate from sky ---> http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/new/detaproduct.php?id=81

Alright, so today I started out by removing my bumpers and getting rid of the crappy wiring the previous owner did on the lights. Ill get some pics up tomorrow once I take them...lol

I also cleaned up the wiring for my autozone tach, the wires were too long, so I trimmed them and cleanly routed them in the engine bay.

Right now I am just trying to do little things that I would otherwise put off till after everything else is done.

My marlin stuff should be in this week sometime soon.

I think tomorrow I am going on the hunt for missing screws and bolts at the local hardware store!!! My dash is held on by like 2 bolts and 2 screws.

Well I talked to ORS today, and ordered my harnesses. Come to find out I need more than one, 3 to be exact. I ordered brand new OEM ones through ORS. They are Alternator (from alternator to connector by air box), Cowl (from alternator connecter to both fuse boxes), and Engine (from computer to engine to all sensors).

I didnt need the engine one, but I thought that if I am replacing other harnesses and putting a new motor in, why not just put the new harness on the new engine, and have a plug and play operation. It would be a hell of a lot easier to put it on outside the engine bay anyways.

Also I am getting 13 boxes from the UPS guy tomorrow I cant wait to post up those pics and test fit my new bumper!!



Let me get some opinions, Warn or Ramsey, I was going to get the ramsey wireless winch with synthetic winch line, but dont know if it will fit on the bumper, anyone know for sure?

Oh and I forgot to mention, my drivers side window would fall down on its own, thats why in the first picture there is that wire hanging down, it was keeping the window up.

I took the door panel off and found that the regulator had broken two bolts holding the regulator and the track on the rear part of the door, the mounting holes in the door broke through. So I am going to get some washers because the hole is so much bigger now and I need my window to stay up.

ill start out by saying sorry to hear about your loss, my mom died when i was young to so i know how crappy that can be. next ill say...dang that is a ton of good stuff.. good call on doing the engine harness, it will only come back to bite ya in the a$$ down the road..and as always, it will be at the worst possible time and place (ex: on a trial, far from camp or your tow rig, in the rain lol). electrical problems suck

Sorry to hear about that! Do you plan on doing the sas yourself or pay someone else to do it (welding etc...)
