Arrow 1989 Pickup 3VZE to LS Swap

Added the last one I forgot to post. Let me know if there is a proper forum to post this, will take more pics going forward.Wasn't planning on making a build post so I don't have many photos from the beginning of the process but I will document more as we go along. Driving back from Texas to Michigan the camshaft blew right through. Now the question was rebuild what I had or do an LS swap... I chose the latter. So here is a photo dump up to today where I will be documenting better the progress. And a video from today of the first start-up on the FIRST turn over. This is as bare bones as possible (with the exception of the tuning of a Holley Terminator) to turn the engine over and listen for sounds. There is no exhaust what so ever which will come later along with plenty of other things. Almost two years since my truck has turned over and it almost brought a tear to my eye, ALMOST. Open to suggestion on powder coat color of valve covers, injector holes will be removed so it's a clean cover, coil packs were relocated, currently thinking all black or all black with the double lines bronze like the intake. Here is a video from today watch with sound, upper right hand corner.

First Turn over First Try

Little camping trip to Texas.. the one that blew the camshaft

the difference between my brother and I

we will take care of you there

I could sleep in there

Barren

Blue tape is protecting bronze air intake

Coil pack re-location

This brings us today

This brings us today

Nice work! The LS looks like it fits in the engine bay really good. What transmission are you running? What about the radiator, will it fit without cutting the core support?....I have a 5.3/4L60E that I was going to put in my FJ40 Landcruiser, but I've been having the urge to drop it in my 91' Extended cab, lol. I will be following your progress, looking forward to your updates!

Subbed to this one. Was just wondering how one would fit in there.
Eager to hear what your solutions are for the trans and driveline.

Thanks for following, many more pictures to come. Trans is Th350, Factory radiator and no cutting of the core support.

Any new updates? I got all kinds of questions like what headers and intake are you using, and what engine mounts did you use? What about the wiring harness, stand alone or diy?...Looking forward to your next update!

Got her fired up one more time today, I'll see if I can find a video. I plan on doing a whole write up with what pictures I can find soon. Headers are shorty stainless off eBay, look great. Got the air intake off FB Marketplace actually its a Holly intake kind of bronzed looks great in there. Cut off the factory motor mounts and welded new universal LS mounts. The wiring harness is nearly all obsolete, it's running off a Holley Terminator X which is controlling everything and then some. I'll post a run-down when I can get it all together and have the time. Probably a new post

Nice video... thanks for answering all my questions lol. I am seriously thinking of swapping my 91'4x4...I have a 5.3/4L60E sitting in my garage now that was going to be for another project, but I'm getting tired of the 22RE being so underpowered and would like to be able to tow with it and still keep up with traffic on the freeway!

The parts for an LS swap like that are more universal than any other engine, these parts are made for the engine swap, it can be done and done surprisingly easy. You're on the right path. I'll keep you updated
