I'm ordering the plate tomorrow when paycheck comes in. I'm excited! My Vacuum Advance should actually do something, and I can FINALLY get the carb tuned to a true best lean idle condition to get the gas mileage up.

When I started working on Vera (think Firefly), she drank like there was a fill station pump hooked to the carb. Talkin maybe 8 MPG. The mix was so rich and the timing so retarded that the exhaust manifold was glowing cherry red after a long drive. Unsettling to say the least.

But now, I've fixed all the vacuum leaks except that stupid weber adapter plate, set the timing, regapped and reinstalled spark plugs... one was really loose, and reset the mix per the weber instructions.

Desmogged the engine, pulled the vacuum manifold, pulled the egr tubes. Some kind soul had welded the EGR Valve shut.

Fixed all the exhaust leaks, There was one at the top of each EGR exhaust port, and a bolt was missing from the manifold, so I went out and bought a bolt. Filled the EGR ports with Inferno Metal Fusion... worked out quite well. Cut off the cat, reconnected. Truck has an 18" glasspack, exits in stock location... it actually sounds pretty good, and it's quiet in the cab. I'm pretty sure it's the original cat and it's clogged up and that's why the gasket failed. Now the little 22r runs great. Nice power even with static timing and a vacuum leak! I'm excited, can't wait for my new adapter plate to come in.

Does anyone know of a paper filter that replaces the original filter on the weber 32/36? I'm not fond of washable filters in dusty environments.

I got a hell of a deal on one of the washable k&n's, that combined with a lawnmower filter overtop of it... I have no worries. I keep them both lightly oiled and my carb is still dust free inside.

do you know what the part number is for a drop in K&N filter? Long term I'm going to put a snorkel tube to the fender well but for now I just want something better than the see-through weber filter.

PS: my LCE spiral adapter is due to arrive Monday!

Changed spark plugs for new NGK V-Power plugs. Replaced old 7mm wires with 8.5 MM Magnecor wires. I have the wire loom plate from LC Engineering and I'll be mounting that today or tomorrow. Also spiral carb adapter is installed and working great.

That looks right. Old filter got all gunked up from when the breather port was just dumping crankcase gases under the hood. Tried to clean it with the K&N kit and it stayed mostly black.

Couple that k&n filter with this MUUUUCH cheaper "pre-filter" that's $24 less than the K&n wrap... and you've got yourself a pretty effective setup! I've been wheeling many many times since I changed filters and used the lawn mower filter pre-filter and have yet to clean either beyond taking off the pre-wrap and seeing how much dust was in it.

Which weber did you get? the real one (white choke housing) or the fake one (black choke housing)

I had zero issues with my adapter plate. Sealed right up. no rtv. Just the gaskets. I got the real weber.

Just wondering if these issues with the plates are because of the different kits or not.

One could always lap the adapter plates to make them more flat and seal better if that were the issue.

See a lot of people with this problem and everyone is so quick to just buy a dif adapter.

Huh?

I have the two piece adapter also, all I did was add some gaskets I made from a big piece I had left over. no leaks, even before I replaced the weber gaskets (mine was used).

More Pics coming today.

I need opinions on tires. Truck currently has worn out 33x12.50 on some nice offset wheels. These fit fine with only a 2-inch suspension lift. I really want to go to 35x12.50 for the extra ground clearance and better aspect ratio. My other option is going with a 33x10.50 on the same rims. I'm not sure on rim width but I think they are 8-9" wide. I know the 33x10.50s will fit without more lift. How much more lift would I need for the 35"s?

Already planning to regar both diffs to 5.29, and putting a locker on the rear diff, haven't decided what to do with the front diff as far as a locker/LSD

The problem is that the weber adaptor is two pieces with three gaskets which means 3 possible points of failure. Couple that with the fact that the weber adaptors are cast metal and not machined and you have a perfect scenario for leaks. I suppose you could deck the surfaces down like Dave said, but I'd rather go with the LCE spiral adaptor, know that it is going to work, get a couple extra ponies and be done with it.

Magnecor wires, I haven't mounted the billet wire loom yet.

Looks like I have the fake weber 32/36, but it runs fine. If the chinese cloned the weber design, that sucks for weber, but they're pretty good at manufacturing. LCE spiral adapter took care of all the vacuum leaks and added some ponies.

Frame rot that I have to fix, this is the forward leaf attachment for the driver side rear wheel.

This is the only spot on the frame with severe rust. No idea why.

Ran into a problem mounting the new billed wire loom

That stud in the valve cover needs to go away, I hit it with some PB blaster, won't budge with regular pliers. Looking around for vise grips now.

Also, what is the black thing to the left of the oil filter on the block in the pic below? (that's a mobil 1 M1-301 filter if anybody's wondering)

Vice grips took care of the stud. Billet loom is installed

I ran the wires on top. There is also the option to run the wires under the loop, but I wanted them as far away from the exhaust manifold as I can get them, plus the red wires look nice.

The thing behind your oil filter is your fuel pressure sending unit
