I have a 2 wheel drive model SR5. My averages consist from testing in opposite directions.
With 1,700 miles on engine
17 City
24 Hwy @ 65mph
19 Hwy @ 80mph
With 2,000 miles on engine
19 City
25 Hwy @ 50mph with 600 lbs extra.
Changing oil, will post new results after oil change.

My 2010 Trail edition is getting around 17 - 19 average which includes city and highway, when I haul my 5 x 10 trailer with a 4wheeler loaded I get around 14. This is pretty near the same as I was getting with my 2005 V8 Sport edition 4Runner

I hope so too, my first 4x4 ever was a 1984 4Runner, with 4 inch lift, and 33's 287,000 miles when I got rid of it and it was still running great just the body had rotted off. That truck got me hooked on both offroading and Toyota now I am on my 3rd 4runner and 6th Toyota. I still contemplate getting rid of my 74 FJ-40 to get a 1985 fuel injected 4Runner.

Been averaging 17-19.5 also.
I tried a few tanks of high test and thought it was a little better...but according to the "experts"....it's all in my mind.
4200 miles...all is running fine.

Engine idle.
This is where most of the lower mpg comes from on my 4Runner. At idle when I start the vehicle I let it warm up to normal operating temp. The mpg takes a giant hit in idle.

Letting the truck warm up at idle is just wasting gas and it doesn't do your truck any good either.

I'm a little over 4,000 miles and average 15.5 mostly city, little hwy. I do a ton of city driving and the hwy is usually just a 12 mile round trip to and from work.
Mines a 2010 V6 4x4 Trail with slightly heaver than stock tires, lift, Magnaflow and roof rack.
