SUPER SWAMPER LTBs...?
How are the SUPER SWAMPER LTBs on the road? Im looking at them and the tread looks like it would work great offroad, but how is the wear onroad? Any bad manners onroad? BTW they are 34x10.5x15 and would be on a D/D

I asked this question somewhere else and as one person said, "They sound like airplane propellers on an old airplane above about 30 mph."
I decided against them, but that 34x10.5 sure sounds tempting.

the ltb is actually a very capable tire offroad, and they do come in wierd sizes..... i might get some of the 34x10.s when i lift my truck some more....

The LTB's aren't as bad as people make them out to be on the road, noise wise. I run them on a 1st gen with the top off most of the time and can still carry on a conversation with raised voices. They are great off road, but tend to be a little squirrely on pavement, and they wear quickly because of the soft rubber. I really wouldn't use them on a DD, I think something like the BFG MT's or MTR's are much better as an all around tire.

I'd get the radials for daily driving. I have 36" Swampers (bias ply) on my 83' Yota. And I drive that all over the state to wheel. The truck tracks perfectly straight. Noise? Yeah it's there, but not unreasonable. I'd expect 30k out of swampers on road (at proper inflation). I run a spool in the rear... so I expect to replace my rear tires about 2x as often. And they're cheap!!!

really...the problem is that tires are very $$$. The LTBS are like $120 for the size i want. If they handel weird onroad, i can live with that and i can learn to drive them. IM not a heavy foot, and i take turns pretty slow( kind of have to in a lifted 4runner) I just wanna know how long they are gonna last as a D/D? like 25-30k?

I love my tires. I paid $122 each mount and balance for my 34x10.5 LTB from Discount Tire. The are the best off road tire I have owned. My truck isn't a DD so I am not sure how long they will last. I have about 1000 miles on them and you can still read the letters that are on the tread...........don't know what that means. If you rotate them before they start to wear they should last. I love the noise they make and if the window is down they are louder but nothing the stereo can't handle.

You will like them. I am running them on 15x7 Eagle Alloy wheels with 4 inch BS and I did need to mod the pinch weld. They don't touch the A-arm and barely rub the frame.

mine are great on the road. they are heavy and loud, but my treadwear has been quite good(still at about 90% or so after 10,000 miles) and the ride is pretty smooth.
