slee said 16x8 steel rims wouldnt work on my 3rd gen

so i was down at slee offroad today to buy some 16x8 black steel rims with 3.5in back spaceing. but they said that the caliper would scrape the rim because of the way the rim is stamped out. i have a 98 sr5 4x4 and was wondering if anyone is running these rims or has heard of this problem. i believe the rims are the sieres 51's

IIRC, you need 4.5in backspacing to clear the calipers. There are a few threads on this issue. Look em up.

with that backspacing they should clear, but because of the wheel design, they might not. Cant they try taking a wheel off and throwing it on there to check for you?
