I checked my tires on the 4Runner, all are 2007 models.

What's funny is that when my RX-7 was my daily driver, I was putting new tires on it every six months. My usage alone was probably enough to deplete the overstock in the warehouses.

This will probably set some people off, but does anyone have any information or thoughts as to how retreads would be affected?

The DOT is in reference to the carcass of the tire, since a retread only replaces the tread, the carcass is still bad.

That's what I was getting at, does retreading help this though? It looked like the tread separating in the 'old' tires and if that area is redone on a retread?...

91diesel,I get what your saying I think. If a "New" tire that is dry rotted from the inside out and the tread seperates, then its no different than a retread coming apart.Only difference is when your crashing and dying you will instantly know retreads were a bad idea.
