Can't find Bridgestone Revo's anywhere!

I've been looking for the Bridgestone A/T Revo's for a few weeks now, but am constantly told that they are out of stock and it won't be until mid-November, early December until new shipments are in. And even then I'm told there are long waiting lists.

I have stock 265/65-17 Dueler H/T with about 5,000 miles on them. However, with the winter weather hitting, I'm finding these tires are great floatation devices. They are crap for stability, wet driving and love to hydroplane. I find them very dangerous.

Is this shortage of the Revo's nationwide, or more acute here on the west coast. I drive aobut 2500 miles monthly and in all sorts of weather, rain, ice and snow.

Also, if I decide to upgrade to a bigger size what would be better? 275/65-17 or 265/70-17?

Any suggestions as to the next best rated tire? I'm not sure I can wait to much longer as I can't stop driving and the Dueler HT's are not cutting it.

I know this may be a dumb question, but in reality the only dumb questions are the ones not asked.

Did you try tirerack.com ?

Last time I checked they were in stock.

Where are you located? I am sure I can get some if I don't already have them in stock.

I'm located in northern California, above the Bay Area. I have tried tirerack and was in the process of placing an order the other night. When I was placing the order the Revo's were supposed to be available by 10/26/04, which was perfect, however, when I went to check out and pay, they displayed a screen that they wouldn't be available until late November.

I have checked out most internet sites that I know are reliable sites and none of them have the Revo's, at least in the size I need, available right now. Locally, I've had dealers check for me and they all claim that their suppliers are sold out and will have to wait until the next shipment from Japan in mid to late November.

So it seems that the Revo's are very popular and my size is just sold out.

Thanks everyone for the assistance...

terryjmatthew, if you think you can get them I would be interested in talking....

I too might be able to get them. A friend manages a local Firestone shop and he got me a pair last month the next day. You might want to try your local Firestone/Bridgestone dealer. i could probably get them, but shipping...

Thanks guys for the effort.. I appreciate it very much.

terryj, I will check out your site.

I have checked with the Firestone, Bridgestone, Goodyear and just about every dealer in my area which carries Bridgestone. Plus, many of the managers of the tires stores have been checking all of their suppliers and after the tenth call today I'm beginning to believe that they are just in short supply.

Thanks again, everyone.

This is very odd. I just had Revo's put on my mom's Infiniti QX4 earlier this week...no problems getting them from Big-O....

hmmm..... i live in norcal and work at a wheel works... we can get them pretty easily.... even if we have to go to an outside vendor... tires are sometimes really backordered, however its not much... most likely they can get them for you that day or worst case scenario a week tops... the reason being if my store doesnt have it on hand, we will do what we need to do to get your sale, even if that means getting it shipped from our store out in napa or whatever.....

I'm only a few miles from you Marin County and have checked over 10 dealerships in Marin and SF, and all of them are out of stock, or so they say, and all of them say their suppliers do not have them either. There earliest I'm told they can get them to this area is November 16, or later, and I've been told they have to come from Japan.

Perhaps it my size of tire that is in short supply, 265/65-17. I have checked with BigO, Firestone/Bridgestone dealers, Cains Tires, Toscalito, Wheelworks, and other independent dealers that carry the Bridgestone brand. All of the interenet sites that I trust, Tirerack and Tires101, also have them backordered. Two dealers have called me back this morning saying they are still trying to find them, but that even their outside vendors don't have them in my size.

I will ultimately probably wait for the Revo's to come into stock before I purchase new tires as they seem to be the ones that would work for me. I have had to many crappy tires to pay good money for a tire I don't want, therefore I will wait a while longer.

One dealer tried to sell me Dunlop AT20s the other day, claiiming they were as good as the Revo's for about half the price. Then I pulled out all of my research from the internet showing that the AT20s rate in the mid category, he shut up. He just wanted to sell me tires. Hell, my Bridgestone Duelers H/T are just about the same level as the AT20s.

This is just one popular tire.

I just bought a set of 265/65-17 Revos this week from Tires Plus

I just bought a set of 265/65-17 Revos this week from Tires Plus. The store did not have them in stock, but said they could order them. Yeah, right I thought until the next day I got the call that my 5 tires had shown up and if I wanted to come down that day, they could put them on because they were kind of slow.

The dealer I normally buy tires from gets his stock from Tire Rack and they are back ordered until at least mid-November.

If you can find a Tires Plus, check with them.

I am in Wisconsin and I don’t know if Tires Plus are on the west coast. They do have a dealer locator on their website.

Follow-up

Looks like Tires Plus do business as Wheel Works out west.

There are 2 in San jose, 1 in Santa Cruz, Gilroy and Los Gatos.

Thanks rjlem, I will give Wheel Works another call tomorrow or Monday. Last week they told me the same thing, that they wouldn't be available until mid November, but hey, a phone call is very cheap.

Actually there is a Wheel Works in San Rafael, just about 5 miles from me. Perhaps I just got someone that didn't want to look to hard for the tires. Your the second person on this thread that mentioned Wheel Works.

Some of the people I initially contacted have bent over backwards looking for these tires and even apologized for not being able to get them. A few (just two), made a few callls and said they couldn't get them and I have heard back from them. So maybe I just got someone at Wheel Works on a bad day. If I get them, I will post here.

Thanks for the help everyone. This board is a great source of information.

I had the same problem with finding Revos, different size though 265-70-16. I called a bunch of places and everyone was out of stock including Firestone shops. I made one last call to a Firestone shop that I hadn't called and the manager said that he could get them in 4 days (yeah-right). He called me back 4 days later and said that he had them in. I got the tires installed the other night and I love them. I live in Denver and the tires were ordered from a Firestone shop in Louisiana. I guess it takes finding a shop that wants the sale….

Hi jimaben74,

A quick update. Last Sunday I went into the wheel works in San Rafael and the guy there checked for me and said he had two Revo's in their San Jose warehouse in the right size for me, 265/65-17. He said he would try to find a total of 4 for me and get back to me by today.

I hadn't heard from him by this afternoon so I called him and he hadn't done anything. However, he said he would get right on it and call me back. So right now I'm just waiting. If he can find four in the right size I will drop everything and go and get them immediately. I really want those tires.

Today I received two calls from other dealers that have been real good about finding these tires for me. However, they both called to say they now cannot get Revo's for me until December 16th.

the drama continues.......

The latest in my search for Revo's in 265/65-17.

Got a call from the Wheel Works guy this morning and he informed me he had found four of the Revo's in my size at a warehouse in the mid west. The cost to me was $177 per tire, not installed or balanced or without the shipping costs. Shipping will be between another $40 to $150 for the set. Total to me with mounting and balancing will approximate $900+.

Whew!!!!! Now I must decide if I want these tires this badly! My guess is I won't. There are several other decent tires I can get for much less. There not Revo's but they're still good tires.

This is painful..........ahgrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
