my buddy had a set of 33x12.50 Dynapro M/T's on his ford...and they flat out SUCKED in the mud...my X-terrains were WAYYYYYY better than his Dynapros..the x-terrains cleaned out A LOT better than his tires did...
of course they were on a heavy ford single cab shortbed..and not on my 3300lb toyota LOL

what about addin some lift and getting mastercraft mts? a buddy of mine has them with a 4runner and has about 45k on them and maybe 1/8in of tread on them. i have them myself and they are not loud at all to me and are very good in the mud. they clean very easily and get better as they wear. when i bought them i payed 895 for them at a local shop and that was for mounting and balancing.

I have 285 mtz's on my 02 4Runner and my little brother just got nitto trail grapplers 285's on his z71 tahoe...
We've both had them for less than 5k but great first impressions of both!

i know a few people who had the Trxus M/T's and they said they perform great, but they are absolutely horrible on the road..and wear out fast...one of my buddies was RELIGIOUS on keeping up on his tires...and they still wore plum out in 25K miles...and he kept them rotated and properly inflated and balanced...and they were wearing good...just wearing fast.
the trxus mt's i had rode SMOOOOOOOOOOTH as glass on the road.. and did great all around.. I LOVED THEM.. they did wear pretty qucik though.
ALSO toyo MT"S will last FOREVER and are smooth as glass..

okay..so i've decided on rims...i'm going to get the Ultra Mavericks..in a 17x8
with some 285/70/17 Federal Couragia M/T's...that's a 33x11.8 tire...and with my 4in lift it SHOULD look okay, and it's not as wide as a true 12.50..so there will be a little gas mileage gained by that...because of the reduction in rotating mass and such.
the rims center bore is 4.17"...the manual hubs are 4.125 (by my measurement) so i will be a CLOSE fit, and i will likely have the rims drilled by a machinist just a hair..to make it easier to get them on and off.
if anyone has any opinions they'd like to share..go right ahead
i've heard lots of good stuff about the Federal tires..they last a pretty good while (around 45K to 50K if you keep a close eye on em) and they are a great tire in the mud..noise doesn't bother me, but i've heard they are quite loud lol

What I would personally really recommend is pick up 2 sets of tires. Get a new set of AT's or all season tires for the street... so you can get something that you'll get a ton of miles out of and ride great. Then pick up a second set of used tsl's, boggers, hawgs, or something of that sort for when you wanna go out and root it. Really, even with a floor jack it only takes about 10 minutes to swap out a set of wheels.
