31x10.5R15 to 32 or 33? (01 runner)
i picked up a 2001 4runner which already had aftermarket tires/rims. its running 31x10.5R15 currently, but i'd like to get bigger tires (32" ideally) without a lift. some people i have called have said there is no way a 32" will fit, while others (like tirerack) said it will fit fine w/o any mods. the 31s look small on there now, so i think getting 32s would fit, but thats just me eyeballin it...
if that wont fit, is there anything wrong with using a strut spacer (say 2")? that was suggested by a local 4x4 shop, and they run ~$300 for the front struts.
any info would help...
thanks,

If Tirerack is telling you they will fit, get them. And if they don't, they should take them back no problem. You will only really be expanding the tire size .5" in each direction so measure you truck and see if you have .5" to spare. Strut spacers are ok but your 4Runner is 4WD so your CV angles will be increase. This means they will wear out faster and a lot of people would suggest a differental drop to correct the angles. Basically if you can make them fit w/o the spacer, that is your best option.

You can fit a 33x10.50 without modification. It is more about the width of the tire. A 33x12.50 needs a couple inches lift. It also depends on the rim's backspacing. However, 32's should fit fine

thanks for the replies guys...
it doesn't seem that a 33" would fit because after takin a closer look, i think it might rub (like TOPSECRET mentioned) when turning hard, esp. on an uneven surface. also, how can i measure the backspacing?
thanks again,
