Question '88 4Runner 1KZ-TE swap

I've been doing alot of searching and have come up with little to no info on this subject. I really want a diesel engine, but would like to keep it toyota. Looking to build a great DD and weekend warrior. Check my build for more info. I've found a few places that sell the 1KZ-TE in my area. What is involved in this swap? Is it like the 3.4?

Cheers

No idea, but can you post links up of where you have found the 1kz for sale?
I am looking to swap in a 1KDFTV, still need to order it from Asia, and still researching.

1kz is a very powerful engine I swapped my Hilux that came with 22R for a 1kz Its twice as powerful and very good on diesel 180km/20liter. It will smoke a 5vz in a long hill clime. since you'r going from a 22r and most likely have a g52 transmission you'll need the 1kz engine and it's bell-housing and r151 transmission from the V6 4runner and your good to go. Keep in mind that 1kz came in 2 different variants, The all mechanical one 1kz then the computerized all electrical motor 1kzfte. I chose the first one because its simple to swap and no computer stuff to worry about. 1kzfte is much more powerful then the old 1kz but too complicated electronics...even the gas paddle is electric like the new Camry and stuff.

Good luck

^^^ So you are saying you only get about 22mpg(if my math is correct). I read reports anywhere from 22-28mpg, what type of driving you doing? Bigger wheels? Towing?
the R150 is the v6 gearbox, but the bell and inputshaft are different then the R151 the KZs use, but you can make a R150 work. The 1KZ-t is an all mechanical diesel, but i understand they are very hard to come by. The accelerator pedal may be throttle by wire like you suggest, but i think that was in the newest models before the engine was discontinued. They do use a sort of TPS like an EFI gasser lump, but it is just telling the ECU how much fuel to add(at least that is what i have read thru countless threads researching my own swap).

Again, i don't have any firsthand experience with these engines, so if something i wrote is wrong someone please correct me. Everything i have learned about the engine is from the internet and email exchanges.
Thanks
