I would love to hear about drivability in the LC and whether you're planning to sell adapter kits. I think a kit for MB diesel into a pickup or 4runner would be very well received to say the least.

Wow, that's an amazing swap!!!

I can't imagine the look on people's faces when you pop the hood, and they see the Mercedes Star on the motor.

I'm not sure this is safe for work, I think it might "excite" folks on here a little too much. lol

I am very interested to learn all you are willing to share about the oil pan, sump, pickup modifications, and remote filter. Nice clean setup you've got!

brake booster?

What did you do for the brake booster for your Landcruiser? The master cylinder looks stock. Are you concerned about making enough boost for your power brakes?

I'm not going to lie-that's really, really cool. I drove an 80 benz diesel for years, burned a lot of oil but ran like a beast. Should have kept the engine for a future transplant.

labor was probably free because it sounds like he did it himself. now you can then get a kit from 4x4 labs and tdswaps $300-$400 to help out and you make everything else. I also assume he used the w56 transmission and most people will probably want one from merlin crawlers so thats another $1,500 ish. engine is probably $1000 ish when put back in running order. it just depends on the parts you use. you have options.

Wow I would really love to see more details on this conversion. He stated that the original automatic trans and transfer case were used. This is important because 80 series use passenger side offset differentials.I've looked all over and this video and a few paragraphs is all the info I can find.OP where have you gone!! Please share the details!

you have to make an adapter plate. It's just like using the w56 trans. you have to either buy one or make one. You can find out much more if you search using the om617 in a 4runner. it's basically the same thing just using a different trans and motor mounts will be different but it's the same concept.

Very Interested in more info on this swap. I have a 1996 Land Cruiser that I would like to swap. I want to keep the stock auto tranny. Can anyone help?
