I have the LS400 and there were two fans in this particular car (91 or 92, having a hard time recalling exact year for some reason).

Your advice would be to remove the fan system then? The 1UZ in this car did not have the hydraulic fan, but rather the simple mechanical belt driven one.

Interesting, I have not seen a 93 or 94 LS400 with electric primary fans. I would say its really your call if you want to run them or not. They are still ECU controlled so something to think about.

I also noticed that you installed the SC oil filter mount. I tried both and actually need the LS version as the SC version didn't fit as the filter did hit the frame rail. So don't get rid of either of those until you have the engine in the rig and can test fit as you may need to switch back to the LS version.

I wouldn't say the two fans were primary as it had the belt mechanical fan as well, but there were definitely two secondary fans sitting on the radiator and two plugs for them on the harness and a coolant controlled switch to activate them. I hope to have the wiring mostly done by the end of the following weekend (not this coming one).

I snagged the SC filter solely based on the readings from other people's swaps. I do have both and definitely won't get rid of them. I have both LS and SC Headers as well. Again, the SC were the ones mentioned for space savings. I have not compared them that closely.

What radiator did you end up going with?

Making progress on the wiring harness. Wire by wire.

Then I stood back and looked at the harness and realized I've hardly put a dent in it. haha. It is slowly coming along. I hope to make some more good progress today and over the weekend.

I haven't decided yet. It is still there and I'm mainly pulling abs and traction control plugs right now. That's a good portion of the wiring.

I actually bought a 3 core aluminum racing blank radiator. I then Tig welded in the correct input and out put holes and welded on blank supports on the tanks. Then drilled the correct holes to match it to the stock locations that the original radiator bolted too.

We have them available if you need one. They are spendy but well worth it to avoid the headaches if you wanted something that just fits correctly. The only thing you need to do when you get it is match it to your OE holes in your core support to the flange and drill them out. Then bolt it up and go.

I may end up checking out some of the other options out there as the swap was a little spendy by the time you end up doing all the maintenance to the UZ, manual tranny, new tcase adapter, and beefing up the dual cases as well as the 23 splines for them and whatever BS that I have forgot that I spent money on for it. haha.

Keep going!

I am doing the same swap right now. Just using a different swap kit and keeping the W56. Good luck.

I know A/C will probably be next to impossible to retain, however I would like to keep the wiring that would go with the truck in the even that I do attempt to try and pull it off in the future.

The problem is, I have never even touched an AC system so I'm a little clueless at what the necessary wiring would be to have. The truck HVAC system is extremely rudimentary and I know they came with AC in some of them 84-88/89 toyotas trucks/4runners.

Anyone have any insight on this?

Just another update on the wiring, nothing really too special. I've removed everything now except maybe a handful of plugs I need to identify and also the wires that come in to the loom from the back half of the car (about 8 fairly large connectors). Also have the AC and Radio plugs that I need to deal with too. Not too far away, but definitely another couple decent sections of work to finish that up.

Finished up with finding the necessary wires from the rear harness. It was maybe 10 of them. Included the rear lights, O2 sensors (secondary), fuel pump, fuel sender, and the map light. I think that was it.

I have them all labeled and will be able to remove quite a few wires tomorrow. Then I will only be left with the AC and Radio wires.

Thanks, much appreciated. I just keep on 'truckin'. I'll probably get the harness in the truck this weekend or this coming week. Just depends on how much time I get and I'm beginning to feel a little under the weather, but I hope I pull out of it.

Nice work. Your harness will look very nice when its all taped up and installed.

AC is hard to get, but not impossible!

I just looked at your build thread over at the PNW forum. When I get all finished up, I may have to chase some guys down on that forum since I'm in the PNW!!!

Very nice truck and thanks for the input on tires/lift way back (a year or two ago). I saw in your build, you were considering an engine swap soon???

I can not wait until I get to tape this B*** up. I'm also quite excited to get this next round of wires removed. It should make a big difference in the amount of wires in the harness and really make it look 'widdled' down.

Any input on what to do about the secondary O2's? I don't have smog restrictions and therefore will not have cats and likely just a single muffler wherever it fits. While I know quite a bit about the engine, I simply not aware of how the secondary's will affect the ECU and how to go about placement of the secondary's if there are no cats (I'm sure the engine will love to get rid of the asthmatic like cats).

Where in the PNW are you located?

When you get it finished, we will have to go out for a wheeling trip!!!
