hopefully startin my 22re/5fze swap soon

I am tryin to work out a donor for my 85 SR5. I have a few questions though. the donor im gettin is a 96 4runner 4x4 auto. the guy sellin me the truck has a 99 taco with the same combo except 5spd. his 5spd has bad syncro's so he was sayin if i helped him swap the auto out of the runner into his taco he would knock some off the price. could we essentially swap trans of course, swap ecu's but leave wiring in both and then swap linkages and be good? Any other glitches i should expect?
