Compatibility '98 Tacoma Donor to '93 4Runner
Hi! New here but have a question?
I have an opportunity to purchase a total 98 Tacoma to do an engine swap into my 93 4Runner.
Will I run into any issues being the donor vehicle isn't a 4Runner. Both vehicles are V6, 5 speed, and 4x4s. Will there be any other parts not on the donor I need to acquire other than the crossover pipe?
Thanks,
Noah

I think that the RUnner is more desirable than the Taco for a few reasons and if they are both 5speed then its even better deal.
Everything you need is there but you would have to alter the existing xover, you dont need another one.
I would grab that manual 4Runner quickly. Those dont last long!!

You won't have any problems with the engine being out of a taco vs a runner. I have a 01 taco motor in my 93 runner with no issues on the swap. Everything was virtually the same under the hood on these trucks. Other then a couple coolant hoses and possibly A/C hoses to run to the back seats of the 4 runner. But you should already have everything you need for that. I dont have rear A/C and I just put a T in the coolant lines like it was with the 3.0 and everthing works great.

Thanks all for your input. I'm going to move forward and pull the trigger on this. It will be great to get the Runner back on the road after 4 years of sitting due to blown head gaskets. Once again thanks for the responses and I'm sure I'll be using this site tons during the swap.
