3.4 swap milestone
Well, after 7 months since turning my first wrench on my 3.4 swap I turned the key today and it started!
It's far from drivable since I don't have a lot of stuff hooked up, I just had a goal of starting the motor in the driveway where I began the project because I'm buying a house and I'm supposed to close this week! I'll likely figure everything else out at the new place but I'll have to tow my truck there instead of drive it
Anyway, it started but I had the throttle cable adjusted wrong and it revved really high when it fired up so I had to cut it off right away. After I removed it, it sputtered to life but wouldn't stay running on its own. After I get a little settled after I move, I'll begin sleuthing (likely here on yotatech) to identify the problem. I have a few things in mind that it could be based on but I'll search first before I post it up here.
I couldn't let it warm up or anything because it was so freaking loud with open headers but I did notice that I had oil pressure. I also noticed that I have a bad drain plug on my new radiator so it was dripping but I seem to have another spot that is leaking coolant that has yet to be identified. Next will be getting a PS bracket so I can put that belt on, drilling the hole for the air box, attaching my new clutch hose (after I repair or replace the hard line), put brake fluid in my new brake master cylinder, and bleed everything.
I also have a new fuel filter that I couldn't put on in time so that will be the first part of my problem solving.
Anyway, I was excited to hear it start and run after so long and had to share it.

dndtdad: I plan on putting together a synopsis with all of my pictures once I get it all done and post up a version here for sure.
snrfer33: I'd be happy to help you out however I can, I'll shoot you a message later.
vital22re: Thanks a lot! It sounded like a top fuel V8 with the open headers lol! Yeah, one of my neighbors knew what I was doing but the rest of them were probably surprised. There are a lot of older folks in this neighborhood so they'll likely be happy I'm moving!

Great to hear. Like the others I would love to see the write up and any additional info you can post. Did you make your own harness? And any pics of the leaks so we may help you out with those.
