3.4 swap help needed
So the mechanical part is done now comes the wiring and im already lost...
first thing is in my pic what do I do with the 2 plugs that I circled?
I believe those are the 2 plugs I splice for the dash?
Also on the 3.4 ECU the is 4 groups of pinouts
My 3.4 wiring harness only has 3 plugs
is the fourth plug on the 98 tacoma the motor came from?
Any Additional wiring information would be great

Yes, you're going to need to get that 4th plug somehow (from the donor truck or new or used) so you can rewire those pins of the ecu. I know Mike at ORS even had a problem finding those plugs, he was asking customers to provide them from the donor truck. Although in my case he provided a new one with his conversion harness. He could make you a conversion harness:

As Mt. Goat stated, you will have a far easier time dealing with this, if your ECU matches the engine (from the donor - same year and engine from the donor, and same transmission application as your truck).
If you are going to do the pin-outs for yourself, you are going to need the wiring diagrams from both your truck, and the donor. There are an almost infinite number of combinations to deal with, so the proper diagrams are essential. If you have the time, and talent, then go for it (including finding all the proper plugs for the job). If not, then it will save you time, and a lot of aggravation to just order the harness fron ORS. Mike is great to deal with, and I can't recommend him highly enough! His harness made mine an almost plug and play project.

Yea the wiring harness and ecu and motor are all from the same vehicle it was also a 5spd.
So I could just buy those little pins and wire it myself?
Ill get my hands on some wiring diagrams
As for the 2 plugs I circled where do those go?

You might have some luck with wiring diagrams here:

As far as the 2 plugs you circled, those get plugged into the conversion harness you are apparently going to attempt to make yourself. What were they plugged into before?

I think there has been a few guys that did their own wiring for a 3.4 swap over on pirate:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=12
I'd say search over there, but you have to pay like $20 to use the search feature. So you may have to use the special google search feature with pirate included in the search terms.

The two plugs that you have circled go to the 3.0 engine harness. In order to make the 3.4 run you will need an adapter harness that fits between the 3.0 body harness (circled plugs) and the 3.4 engine harness. In this conversion harness you will need provisions for the OBD II port, Evap system, ADD, speed sensor, O2 sensor and many other systems. Every different year combination will have a different design of what is included in the adapter harness. It is not possible to re-pin both the 3.0 and 3.4 harnesses and plug them into each other. That is why these are such complicated harnesses to build.
The plugs needed for the harness are very challenging to get. Some of them are not possible to buy new and have to be salvaged off of donor vehicles.
Let me know if you have any questions or would like to order a harness.

Here are a couple things to think about if you are going to make your own harness. You will need to have the FSM for both the donor vehicle and your vehicle. These harnesses take a long time to design, the process of building it is the easy part. Be prepared to spend a lot of time studying the entire wiring harnesses for both vehicles. You need to take into consideration every wiring aspect of both trucks.
Good luck with your project.

I posted this on this same question that he posted on pirate4x4.com, just thought that i would share it with you guys here.....
This is from what I posted a while back when I was making my own conversion harness from a 92 22r truck to a 98 4runner harness......
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=497614
Just thought that I would help out those of you that are making your own 3.4 harness. Below you will find the part numbers for the plugs (c1 & c2 in the ewd) that fit into the dash harness on my 92 yota so that you dont have to cut up the 22r harness to use them...
90980-10811
90980-10881
These are empty plugs that you will have to supply the wires for, if you cant find any to use, use these part numbers, (these are per wire btw)...warning, doing it this way (ordering each wire) can get expensive in a hurry...
82998-12340 - small wire (majority of these two plugs)
82998-12380 - larger wire (only 4 of these needed in this application)
Also it seems people have had trouble in locating the plug for the body harness that plugs into the 3.4 ecu. Below you will find 4runner part numbers, I dont know for sure, but I think that the taco's p/n are the same.
96 - plug E8 90980-11392
(Manual Trans)
plug E12 90980-11218
(Auto Trans)
97/98 - plug E12 90980-11218
99/00 - plug E12 90980-11637
plug E14 90980-11638

The best and easiest wiring diagrams to use are the Toyota ones. They are not cheap at the dealer. Best bet: have a friend that works there borrow it for you, have a friend that works there let you download from TIS (their online manual service). The aftermarket manuals can be innacurate at times so be careful!
