3.4 from a 95 t100??

I searched but couldnt really find what i was looking for. Ive got a 93 pickup 4x4 22re 5spd, the donor will be a 95 t100 4x4 5spd that i can get for pretty much free! The plan is to take all the drivetrain (not the axles) from the t100 and swap it over, Now since the t100 is pass drop IFS I shouldnt have a prob with the oil pan, tcase, etc.

I know the motor mounts are differant from 4 to 6cyl. (Ive done a 22re swap to my 3.0 4runner) and i still have the v6 trans cross member and radiator to use. I know i have to re work the crossover pipe (not a prob) and i can use the power steering lines from a 3.0 truck (done it in the past). I helped a buddy do a 3.4 swap in his pickup and i did the most of the wiring.

Ill be making my own motor mounts. My big question is the wiring, Im hoping i can use the whole dash harness, cluster, etc from the t100, do you guys see where this would be a prob? It seems to me that this is a pretty cut and dry swap using THIS t100 compared to most. This is my DD and the only reason for swapping is mine is getting tired and the 3.4 is pretty much free.

What do you guys think? Are there any major things that i over looked? Im no pro but im def not a newb when it comes to this motor swap stuff, im doing a 4.3 vortec in my runner as we speak. I just want to have everything lined up so its an in and out swap. Oh and my pickup is bone stock so i know ill need a 2" body lift.

I had a buddie who has done two 3.4 swaps using the 3.4 donors dash and it worked out great. He had a Tacoma dash in his 2nd gen truck, it looked pretty cool. I am pretty sure if you are using the donor dash you don't need to do near as much wiring also. It basically plugs in. I have never done it myself but have seen it twice. The other one was in a 2nd gen 4runner.

The T100 doesnt have any air bags, so i dont have to worry about any of that. Im not using the dash its self, just the wiring, cluster, maybe the heater controls, etc. Im just looking to see if anyone on here has thought about this or done this so i know what to expect. Again, this is my DD and nothing more. The only reason for even thinking about this swap is because it just kinda fell in my lap and seems ALOT easier than most to not just do it! Anyone else have any insight on this? Thanks for the replys.

I think your on to something good

The cluster will just bolt in.. here is a picture of a 98 Auto cluster from a T100 in my 89 truck (RV) I upgraded to a sr5 style cluster but needed the shift positions lights only available on the t100 auto clusters, it fit in and hooked up just fine...

Hope it helps! Good luck with the swap.
Andrew.

perfect! This is stuff im looking for! Ive been running the swap through my head over and over and i cant really come up with anything major thats going to be a PITA. Mod the cross over pipe, exhaust, motor mounts, body lift, and everything else should just fall into place. I think using the dash harness from the T100 is really going to save alot of work and almost no wiring to mess with. It almost just seems to easy to be true!

I am doing a 3rd gen dash into a 2nd gen swap right now, so far the mods are all small. I will shoot some pics today, I am using all the wiring from the 3rd gen from headlights to tail lights.

It can be done absolutely. I have seen it done before and a friend of mine is putting a 96 runner dash into a 91 at the moment. I would say it isn't any easier to swap it vs. wire it to the existing dash and cluster, but it is cool and different. It will take some modifying to make the dash core fit in correctly but its not brain surgery by any means. On another note, i see you have a 95 donor. make sure you know the history on the motor and do a compression check first thing. The very early 3.4's also had head gasket issues similar to the 3.0 due to the material causing electrolysis. Its rare but did happen and a friend of mine at the dealer said there was indeed a recall on the early 3.4. best of luck and post some pics asap!
