Looking at Jason's pics in post #1 it looks like a least 3-4 inches. http://www.yotatech.com/50632683-post1.html

I bearly have room for my Taurus fan using the 3VZE motor mounts.

Yeah, mt goat has a point. It would probably have to be one of those super thin aftermarket fans ($$$) for that to work.

I remember reading on here (not this thread, but YT in general) that someone said they would rather do 10 3vz-5vz swaps over 1 22r-5vz swap...
Your swap seemed to go pretty smooth, Minus the one month long down time for surgery...

Nice man !!

Hey Jason, What (if anything) did you change with your fuel pump for this swap? I'm attempting to do the same swap in an 85 and haven't figured out the fuel delivery part yet.

I didnt change anything on the fuel pump side. If your 85 is fuel injected you should be good with the factory fuel pump, just wire it in to the 5vz harness. The only thing I had to do fuel wise was have some custom fuel lines made up at the local hydraulic hose supply place here in okc.

Yeah, my 85 didn't have efi, which is why I'm trying to figure it out.

But I'm confused.. you did a 22r to 5vz swap and didn't have to add an electric fuel pump? Just kept using the carb fuel tank and it all worked out? or was the fuel tank upgraded (switched over) previously?

Jason, Congratulations on some nice fabrication work. I would like to see your truck sometime. I live about an hour south of OKC but I drive all over the state for work.

I did a 22RTE conversion on my 88 but I am thinking about a 3.4 now. After I get done with my Airplane. :-)

Did you mate the 3.4 to and 22RE Tranny? I have a W56 and was hoping it will be compatible.

Thanks, come by sometime and you can take a look at it, no problem. No, I used a 00 taco r150 for the trans. I dont know of any way to mate a w56 to the 5vz, I'm not saying it cant be done I just dont know how. I do still have my old w56 if someone in oklahoma is looking for one, I need to sell it so I can get it out of my way.

Well, today I got in an accident. It seems everyone on here does for some reason I was slowing down for the car in front of me that was turning into his neighbor hood when all of the sudden I hear tires squealing from the driver behind me locking up his brakes. My head hits the backrest before I know it, and I get this sinking feeling in my gut. We were on one of the major streets here in okc, so the guy that hit me pulls off the road into the neighbor hood that I was slowing down for originally (he had pushed my truck that far forward), I throw my truck into reverse and follow him. He pulls off to the side and when I look at his truck my stomach sinks even further. It was a 98 f150 and it looks like it will total out. I'm thinking "great, if this totaled out a full size truck mine is toast" I hop out of my truck, make sure the other guy is alright and dosent need an ambulance or anything and then go and look at his truck....

So then I go and look at mine....

I wouldnt believe it if I wasnt there to witness it. It put a couple of dings below my left tail light, mangled my tag, tag bracket, and tag lights - and thats it!! I officially LOVE my rear bumper, it saved my trucks life!! LOL

IIRC its 5/16", LOL! The real question is how's the frame Jason, and your neck?

I looked down the frame on both sides and didnt see anything that looked bent. As far as myself, I went to the er after the accident b/c my neck and upper back were hurting. They took x-rays and said it was just some muscles hurting, wrote me a prescription for some pills and sent me on my way. My fiance was freakin out because of the surgery that I had 2 years ago and was afraid that something else could have gone wrong b/c of the accident. The doctors assured her that nothing was wrong and I was just gonna hurt for the next couple of days.

Yeah, the bumper is 5/16" thick (at the time I made it I couldnt find a 1/4" thick piece shaped like that) and what the d-rings are hanging on is a piece of 3" x 1/2" steel that goes all of the way through the bumper up into the frame. Where the d-rings hang I doubled it up to help spread the load.

Hey Jason, got your message. I don't have a data plan so I'll reply here. It was Bentup or Bent-up something like that.

I guess it will be up to you to carry on the design, I bet that guy in the Ford wants on now hehe.

EDIT: I just looked again at the pics, I guess his bumper didn't get hurt too bad either LOL.
