I was the same way when I first changed my oil in my 2k..
Im not sure for the 4Cyl, but chances are its something you will probably have to reach from the bottom, and you might have to remove you skid plate to get a visual..

The fuel filter is tucked under the intake manifold and attached to the engine block. Its a PIA to get to. Removing the driver's side font wheel and the covers in the wheel well will help you get better access to the filter. It took me a good 2 hours to replace the filter. Look in the tech section or do a search, there is a good write up on how to do the job on a 22RE engine. Its pretty much the same procedure for the 3RZ.
