de-chroming ?

Can you wire wheel chrome off or do you have to take it somewhere to get it done. I have a brush guard that I want to incorporate to my TJM bumper, but I want the chrome gone. One because I don't like chrome and two you can't weld with the chrome on it. Any suggestions would be great.

Take it somewhere and have the chrome removed properly. Do not scrape, grind or sand it off - The residue will fill your workspace and it'll take forever to clean up all of it. Dust from heavy metals is very toxic and will wreck your lungs, therefore, many states and municipalities have regulations regarding recovery, disposal, etc. By the time you buy a decent respirator and create a 'tent' to work in, you've spent half of what it would cost to drop off the piece in the am and pick it up in the pm.
