Any weight will be offset by rawpower. Your going from something that barely makes 200hp to something that makes close to 250 or better.

Don't know how much you off road but thats where the weight issue comes into play. Well, depending on what kind of terrain you like to wheel. Where I'm from, its mostly mud and in mud you really don't want to sink nose first because of all the weight your carrying. I know people say weight isn't a factor but I've seen people sink in that stuff like quicksand. My buddy has a Chevy with a 6.0 which is a very heavy motor and he sunk fast in the same stuff my truck floats on. If its a street queen, then no worries

She will def be seeing lots of Mud, Water, Rocks, im starting to really get into som serious off roading, Thats why im afraid of the weight, i know with my 33x12.5 swampers and a light truck, i pretty much float over anything. But is a 350 really THAT much heavier than a 3.0?

stock 3.0 makes no where near 200 horsepower, more like 150, on a good day. Depending on what year, your 350 makes between 220-290 HP.

That being said, the 3.0 is not junk. It got me 20MPG today, and it got me home and back, like it has been doing for the past 203,000 miles.

You would add around 150-200 lbs. with the 350/350 combo. What TC are you going to use?

If you're concerned about weight and want a 350, pick yourself up a LS1. 400 lb. fully dressed, huge aftermarket, and stock power is arguable...in stock T/A's and Camaro's they put out anywhere from 310-325 RWHP/340 RWTQ. Note that's to the wheels in a 98-02 Trans Am/Camaro.

The whole LS platform is the best V-8 ever made, IMO. You just can't match them in any way. The only downside I can think of them is the cost...but the reliability weighs that out. Oh yeah, and the spark plugs can be a bitch to change.

Aluminum block, aluminum heads, low weight, better heat dissipation than cast iron, little more pricey, but think of the money you'll save by NOT overheating in the mud...
