93 22re--5VZE/Auto trans Swap
Hey guys/gals,
One of my customers asked me about a swap he wants to do in his 93 4Runner..It has a 22RE in it thats blown..Well he just picked up a 99 Runner crash victim and wants to swap the entire driveline from the 99 to his 93..So basically a 5VZE w/ atm going into a 93 Runner..I would imagine I would need to fabricate exhaust hookup which isn't my concern..My biggest question is engine and tranny mounting..Is there a conversion kit available if it is even needed....?? Driveshafts dead swaps ? Worked for Toyota for 20 years before going out on my own and this is the first time I have ever dealt w/ this swap.. Thanks in advance for all replies... |

They sell the wiring kits and weld in motor mounts. Drive shafts will have to be modified. |

Since you have a donor, wiring from one to the other would be usable, why not swap the interior too. Otherwise buy the kit. Their kit doesn't include trans control if I remember right. But there are a couple options there too.

read the ORS tech article. Actually go over it a few times Then browse around in the 3.4 swap section of yota. All the questions you are most likely to have will be answered in there.

Trans control
If you read ORS's desc. their kit it has a note (or at least used to) about only controlling the engine system.
The A340 series transmisions shift through the forward gears via solenoids in the transmission which are controlled by the ECU and ECT(trans) computers along with various sensors. If you have the donor wiring just swap it into you vehicle problem solved. Otherwise an after market trans. contoller is required. I put a '92 trans in my '82 and made my own shift controller, I now have figured out a way to make a much simpler one, see my website. Take care and good luck with the swap. |
