22re into 80 pickup
so i finished installing a fresh rebuilt 22re into my 80 pickup. before attempting to start checked for proper fuel pressure before fuel filter, it showed just under 60 psi. so that is sufficient. checked for spark, also good. checked for power at injectors, good, checked while cranking and it almost started, while i had one injector unplugged. so i stopped cranking, plugged injector back in, and tried starting her up. it started then stalled within like 3 seconds. tried again and all it did was fire every now and then. still have spark, fuel, and have redone timing numerous times. now it won't fire at all. pulled plugs and they are wet with fuel.

so i found out that it is a fuel related problem. by spraying brake clean in the intake while cranking, it fired up for again another 3 seconds. have power at the injectors, but they are not pulsing. tried running grounds off the ecu and still no pulse. could the ecu be the problem. not sending the pulsed ground to fire the injector.

I am in the exact same boat as you, 79 Truck with an 82 harness, and 87 22RE
Fires up, and stalls right away
I've redone fuel lines, rewired a bunch....still nothing, just redid the alternator wiring yesterday, gotta try firing it up today..

k what do i look for. code on injectors and code on ecu? i know the injectors i have are the dual nozzle type. not sure what ecu i need. i took the whole engine, harness, and ecu from a 11/91 runner. im told that is a 1992. does the ecu have the year on the sticker?

As long as your ECU matches your harness your good to go. ANd also your injectors have to match the harness too, but I'm guessing they do since you pulled it from a running truck.

Another thing to check is the wiring for the injectors. They are spliced together and the splice is known to come loose. You should trace all the wires, check them, or just go ahead and re-solder the connections to make sure they are good.

so i the whole ecu wiring harness and traced all the wires and splices. they all look pretty good. none that have corrosion or none broken. i think i'll cut and resolder all of them anyway and then tape up the harness and reinstall. i also tried my ecu in buddy's 91 runner and it ran fine. so i know the ecu is not the issue. anyone have any other ideas?

89 toco, stock EFI,But I'm running a fuel tank and pump out of a "91" tracker, this was the set up when I bought it.Fuel PSI Is my concerns,When I idal a round it seems to load up on me, Like a 2 cyl. would act, and just die. wont start rite back up, but if you cus a little, lite up a cig,[just for time line]it starts every time and good to go. the warmer it is out ,the more offten this happen,Only had thi pre built rig a month and i'm still figureing out the builders options. I'm wondering if my fuel psi is the issue, over loading my return. When I bought it they had[I was told] the was running a fuel regulator in line, well it was an air regulator instead,it started leaking so I took it out and ran staight, It did ok till summer weather started?? bafeled in ohio
