All that stuff most of us dont carry will be gold in the coming american revolution. When we get enough of socialism/government control and being taxed to death. When U.S. currency is worth nothing and the whole economy implodes from the strain of massive debt.We will need all the supplies we can get our hands on.Just a thought.

Oh, yeah... no need to wonder what goes in that compartment. Moron T-boned me when I was traveling through a green light. Totaled! Hit at 40 mph... Insurance just quoted me $5,400.00, I can't even come close to replacing it for that amount. Another Runner down...

So I carry allot of gear in my 87 4Runner. Why? Cause I was a boyscout and I have been known to hit the trails at any given moment. I know allot of my stuff is redundent but I designed it that way. Im the type of guy that will stop to help others and if they really need somthing I won't hesitate to give them some gear. Don't get me wrong I'm not giving stuff away for the sake of it, but when I was a little kid my mom broke down with 4 kids outside of Lake Havasu and 50 cars must have passed before this nice old guy came along and happened to have a thermostat for a Jeep Cherokee and it saved the day for us. Ever since that day I decided I would never be helpless again and I would help others.
2 sets of snow chains (all 4 tires) and some wire, tools, and tensioners
And these are "V" bar chains. The keep traction on solid ice, trust me I know.
Not pictured items include shovel, flashlights, maps, batteries, knives, ammo, water bottles and misc things.
So how much gear do you guys/gals carry? I hauled all this stuff up 3 flights of stairs today to do inventory and if I took it all out I bet I could double my mpg's. But whatever I don't drive an 87 4Runner for the mpg's.
Lets see your gear!!!!

I am headed out wheeling sometime this week. I was checking my junk to make sure I had what I needed and I took a few pics.
Air inlet hose
Handy shovel (thanks Corey D. for the mount)
The cables are the same ones they use to jump cranes. All belts, tie downs, 50ft tow strap, 25ft air hose, 25ft chain, air compressor and air tools, funnel and some other crap.
Full set of tools in the red box and in the camo bag the kitchen sink. FSM, rope, winch hooks, BF tarp, food, etc.
The thing wrapped in the brown plastic bag is an OEM alternator.

Older threads like this are great! It makes me feel better to know that i'm not the only "prepared" guy out there. Seriously what was the point of spend 40K on a college education if i dont learn to think for myself, right?
LUCK FAVORS THE PREPARED! live it and live on.

Man I feel like this thread was meant for me lol After looking through some of your guy's stuff (and being very impressed) I realized that i have an extreme amount of more survival type gear, and nowhere near the proper amount of recovery/parts gear. ...... hafta work on that. But first i want to get all the current gear out to take some measurements of the back of the runner and hopefully design some better kind of storage system before i add more stuff to carry. Right now its just two tool boxes, an lbv and a small molly sack all strapped down for the survival gear, and as far as parts goes i only have a box of fluids. Thanks for all the inspiration and ideas
