Lowest SAS with v6?
Just wondering how low you guys with SASed rigs are/could be. I would be really happy with 4-5" of overall lift. I've heard that the oil pan on the 3.0 can be an inhibiting factor.

I have 3 in front springs and 4 inch rears in my PU. Running 33's. I could probably run bigger tires too.
The oil pan interferes with the crossover/hysteer. easily fixed with a 2wd oil pan. Dude this has been covered so many places. "SEARCH!"

I', at 5-6" with a dana 60. I am going to swap some leaves out soon to flatten the packs some more to get back to a flatter pack. I'll find a pic later of mine with a 2.5" drop hanger and packs that were slightly negative which gave about 3-4" lift. The key is to move a axle and steering box further forward than 1.5" (more like 2.5") if running a toy axle and high-steer. That will keep the tire rod clear of the 3vze oil pan.

Yea that a nice setup you got there. Moving the diff forward also makes for a better approach angle. One of the reasons I baught a SWB was so I could move the front axle forward without having a ton of space between the wheels. I can see this will be a long drawn out project for me lol.

First, you need to compare a more standard measure.
Rim to uncut fender assuming stock 15" rims is more universal.
Including a 1" bodylift, I am at 21" rim to fender.
Low is a good idea, but on street driven trucks you need some vertical compression so it rides half way decent.
I have right around 3" of straight, vertical travel with airbumps and the truck rides and drives like a champ.

I run the T100 2x4 oil pan for clearance on my SASed 89 3.0.
3 inches of up travel is about the minimum for the street. banging the suspension into the bumpstops sucks for ride quality.
I too have a 1 inch body lift and I'm 19 inches from a 15 inch wheel to fender lip.

I have Marlin 4" springs front, All-Pro 6" leafs in back with a AAL (maybe 3/4" thick). No body lift. Stock 3.0 oilpan. 35" tires, Toyota axles. I have about 3" straight up before bumpstops.
On the 2nd Gen (mine at least) my fender openings are lower in the back than front. My 4Runner sits maybe a 1/2" low in the rear.
My measurements are 20" front, 17.5" back measured from top of 15" rim to factory fender opening.

That's funny Marc P... they almost look the same as well.
Mines the bigger one.
As far a gravel roads, general bumps. Comparing to the IFS before, I mainly see a difference at higher speeds (plus 35) or when I hit a bump straight on. For example, if I hit a bump or square edged dip one wheel at a time, I rarely bottom even with speed. But, both wheels lines up with the bump or dip it will bottom pretty easy.
Overall, I am very happy with the SAS's ride quality both on and off road. I'd wager most couldn't tell a difference on road besides the steering works way better with 35" tires than the IFS with 33".
Sas shines when speeds slow and terrain starts to get difficult. Not going to be able to really pre-run with it unless you start linking things in my opinion.

See, how is this for interesting.
We are all about the same height in front.
I have 4" Alcan springs, FROR hanger and pretty short shackles.
Elvota Steve, I am one of Schaefer's friends who really loves AZ wheeling. I am still bummed about Moab, but I am going to try and get there. I think our trucks are about the same size despite a body lift and 37's. Odd, because this is pretty low compared to how they get.
As to speed stuff and whoops, I will put my pig against any other swapped truck out there. With the air bumps and the 4 link, it only rides smoother when you hammer it. To me, that is the Cat's Meow with the air bump front instead poly. Low but still smooth.

No swaybar. Truck handles turns fine, unbanked at 20, no worries.
Approximately 3" from ride height to bottoming the bump and yes it compresses all the way.

No swaybars either. I don't have handling problems, but I don't drive it like a sports car either. I drove my last '91 Toyota pickup without the sway bar for years, so I am kinda used to the characteristics.
Flygtenstein, any pics of your front setup? I'd like to see how you mounted the air stops. What brand air stop are you using? What about in the rear... same setup?
