2wd to SAS?

Well even though I learned alot here I have a new questions, My friend has a 94 2wd, It has a body lift and some small swampers now. Hes taking a personal loan to get this truck UP! He had a really nice 94 X-cab on 35s a few years ago, And has big plans for this truck now, Hes getting everything together to start on it, IS there any writeups on 2wd to SAS conversion anywhere, Specifically where the 4wd tranny/ x-case corssmember goes and any other info on this, Its getting a sas as soon as we get everything together

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just sale his and buy a 4x4 and do the SAS?

Well if your cutting all the ifs out anyway to sas, I dont really think its worth the 2 grand more hes gonna have to pay for just the tranny and transfer case. This truck is in really good shape and already paid off with low mileage motor. And its already down to a bare frame for all the paint and body work we did, He looked around for 4wds but nothing good has shown up around here lately, And like I said most of its gonna be cut out anyway... Just trying to figure where the crossmember goes and any other little bits of info

IMO this is the best way to go. Look up the "Project Quasimoto" buildup thread on Pirate4x4.com, all the info you'll need is in that thread.

is it an auto or 5sp?

IIRC (and someone tell me otherwise if i'm wrong) all you should have to do is get a t-case that matches the tranny 5sp/auto, and and then do the sas.... it shouldnt be that hard. chop out all the control arms and weld in the new hanger and axle.

Between what KustomKaos and Me have we should be able to get most of the stuff you need. From what I know you have to change the steering box and
you are going to need to cut the floor. KK has a 93 parts truck with a good tranny, x-member, steering box, and some other misc stuff. You are gonna need to change the rear axle, drive shaft (slip style on 2wds) and you need larger 8" rear (Got a 83 if you are interested).

Ok... PM me with some prices on stuff from that parts truck. Isnt the 4wd x member welded in? We knew the floor cutting of course, Does he need the steering box if hes planning on running crossover and alot of lift? Also isnt the 83 Rear narrower? I know the All-Pro kit (hes set on it cause thats what his old truck had, I tried to offer different options) has billet spacers to run up front, he wants it all even and wants them sticking out (shakes head) Also does that parts truck have a bed, he wnats a new bed too
