Yeah, it's done.
The tech you are talking about sounds liek Jim, the shop owner, he has a 2nd gen pickup with tundra glass on the front. He's a great guy.
We took the diff apart because there wasa wierd vibration when hitting or removing the throttle above 60mph. When we opened teh diff we found that it spun the bearings, carrier was chewed, and pinion was loose.
So, finally all that stuff got fixed, which is good. So I go driving home and the vibration is still there. Sheesh.
It only happens between those transitions of power. I think it is the Allpro parking brake. The calipers are just hanging there loose when pressure is not applied and I think they are rubbing against the disc briefly causing that noise. The pads are worn, so that confirms my suspition. The pads shouldn't have any wear since they are only supposed to contact when parking.
I emailed Allpro, but I think they are either busy or avoiding me. It's not a big deal, just pretty annoying.
Otherwise, yes, I have my truck back and looking forward to the 4th. Fix your tie rods, mikey!

i am sad to say i will be hanging up my 4 wheeling shoes for the time being. i just started school and i have a long commute and i really need something a little more economical than a 4 wheel drive truck. plus 5 years of payments suck. so a little taquito or early 90's pickup sounds good to me, then when i'm done with school hopefully i can hit the trails again.
thanks for the invite anyway, seth. i really wish i could have been there. let me know if there are anymore so cal runs as my brother might be interested and i'll probably come along in his truck and play spotter or photographer or something. btw, my brother is darth brian here on yotatech and practically everything off my old 4runner is going into his pickup because it's a champion romper of death.
oh, and mikey, if you still want that rear driveshaft and those brake parts, lemme know. i still have them waiting for you.
alright dudes, peace.
